Children and nursery team members from Partou Kids Corner Day Nursery & Pre-school stand alongside Cheshire Constabulary officers in front of a marked police car during a nursery visit. The outdoor experience gave children the opportunity to learn about the role of the police and explore the police vehicle as part of their learning about people who help keep communities safe.

Hot on the heels of a recent visit from local firefighters, children at Partou Kids Corner Day Nursery and Pre-school in Sandbach welcomed some equally important guests when officers from Cheshire Constabulary came to the setting to talk about their work.

Tyler Burgess, Partou Kids Corner Nursery Manager, said.

“The children have been doing lots of projects around occupations and people who keep us safe.”

“This week was all about the police. We reached out to Cheshire Constabulary to see if they could pay us a visit – and they did!”

During the drop-in, the children had an opportunity to sit in the police car and sound the siren.

Since the visit, they have turned their ‘home corners’ at the nursery into police stations and discussed who the police are, what their role is and in which circumstances they may need to be contacted.

“Safeguarding is our primary role as practitioners, so learning these skills is vital,” Tyler added.

“Partou Kids Corner is endeavouring to give the children authentic, first-hand experiences and bring their learning to life.

“These initiatives are making a truly positive difference to their development, whilst having lots of fun along the way!”

Kirsty Jackson, Partou Co-Managing Director, said:

“Sincere thanks to Cheshire Constabulary for giving the children such a memorable experience.

“Understanding the police’s role in keeping us safe is a critical life lesson, together with how and when to reach out to them.

“Well done to Tyler and the team for helping the children to take another valuable step on their learning journey.”
