Children and team members at Partou Playaway Day Nursery and Pre-school in Harrogate have hosted Yorkshire Air Ambulance mascot Dr Priti and North Regional Fundraiser Clare Deacon for a special story time.

Clare read from her beautifully illustrated children’s book ‘Henry the Helicopter’s Emergency Mission!’ which describes how Henry leads the Yorkshire Air Ambulance team to help a young girl after she falls off her horse.

She also gave a fascinating talk about the heroic work done by the charity across the region to come to the aid of people in emergencies and save countless lives.

Joanna Waller, Partou Playaway Nursery Manager, explained.

“To support such a wonderful cause, we all dressed in Yorkshire Air Ambulance yellow and enjoyed a delicious, yellow-themed menu,”

“We also held a fantastic cake sale and took part in lots of yellow themed activities throughout the day. Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful families, team member and children, we raised £80 for this amazing cause.”

Throughout the day, the children learned about the role of Yorkshire Air Ambulance, how helicopters can reach people quickly in an emergency and the importance of helping others in the community.

Joanna said:

“They also developed their communication and listening skills during story time. We also explored colours through our yellow teamed activities and, most importantly, we discovered how even the small acts of kindness make a huge difference.  That’s a lesson the children continue to learn daily at Playaway through our curriculum.”

“Yellow day was amazing, it was filled with so much fun and laughter and the children learnt so much from our visitors. I’m really proud of the team and our families for all their support for this incredible charity.”

Clare Deacon said:

‘We had a delightful morning with the children who were all so enthusiastic about meeting our mascot, Dr Priti, and holding a yellow day.

“Thank you so much to all the team at Partou, and the parents and carers too, for creating such a great day with long lasting memories.

“I think we have found some future fundraisers!’

Kirsty Jackson, Partou Co-Managing Director, said:

“What a treat for the children. Thank you to Yorkshire Air Ambulance for everything they do and taking their time out to visit the nursery.

“Congratulations to the children, families and the Playaway team for raising much-needed funding for the worthiest of causes.”
