Top tips for making the most of your nursery visit
We've compiled a list of popular questions families ask at nursery visits to help you when deciding which nursery to choose for your child's early years education.
Located in Fulwood, Partou Bluebells Day Nursery & Pre-School provides high-quality early years childcare and education for families across Fulwood, Preston, Ingol, Grimsargh, Ribbleton and the surrounding areas. We have our own on-site car park, making drop-offs and pick-ups straightforward and stress-free. In our most recent Ofsted inspection in August 2025, we were rated Good, with inspectors noting that children are continually engaged in their play and learning and that our arrangements for safeguarding are effective, a reflection of the care and professionalism our team brings every day.
Nurturing our team is as important as nurturing the children in our care. We are proud to have a long-standing nursery team and know that the quality of our team is central to the wonderful care we provide. Our large team of nursery practitioners a wide range of strengths and expertise, and many have been with us for years. Our Nursery Manager has been part of the Partou Bluebells family for a decade, progressing from newly qualified apprentice to leading the nursery, and our Deputy Manager has followed a similar path. That kind of staff stability and investment in people means that team members are delighted to work in place they feel supported, children are surrounded by consistent, familiar faces who truly know them, and families build trusting relationships that last throughout their time with us.
In our baby rooms, children move up to the next room only when they are developmentally ready, rather than at a fixed age. This means our team can focus fully on each child’s individual next steps and ensure every transition happens at the right time for that child. Our dedicated sensory room adds another rich layer to children’s early experiences, supporting language development, curiosity and emotional regulation in a stimulating and calming environment. Our Early Help team identify and support early interventions, helping every child reach their milestones and ensuring families have the right support around them from the start.
The extra-curricular programme at Partou Bluebells is loved by children and families alike. Pre-school children take part in Forest School, heading outdoors to explore nature and build resilience and independence. Spanish sessions give children a brilliant early introduction to a second language whilst Musical Mischief and Fever Dance bring creativity, movement and music into the week. Ofsted noted the breadth of this curriculum and the way it builds on children’s existing skills while sparking new interests, and it shows in how engaged and enthusiastic children are every day.
Families are very much part of life at Partou Bluebells. When you enrol your child, you become part of our nursery community too! Our regular stay-and-play sessions invite parents and carers to come into nursery and experience first-hand what their child gets up to day to day. Beyond that, we run a varied programme of sessions for parents throughout the year, covering everything from first aid to archery, and our team communicate regularly through the app as well as in person. Ofsted recognised the strength of these relationships, noting that parents feel involved and included in their children’s learning, and that partnership between home and nursery is something we work hard to sustain as we know children thrive when we are all aligned in helping them on this first step in their early year’s education.
If you are looking for a nursery in Fulwood where your child will be truly known, expertly supported and given every opportunity to thrive, we would love to welcome you to Partou Bluebells Day Nursery & Pre-School.

Funded childcare
Partou Bluebells Day Nursery & Pre-School is proud to offer funded childcare places
Funded childcare is a government incentive fulfilled by Local Authorities which aims to provide financial support for eligible families accessing childcare at an OFSTED registered setting. Partou Bluebells Day Nursery & Pre-School work with Lancashire Local Authority to apply childcare funding for eligible families.
Funding typically covers 15 or 30 hours per week for the 38 term weeks of the year across a maximum of 10 hours a day. Children who are in year-round childcare will receive “stretched” funding. This means that their 15/30 hours over 38 weeks will be stretched over 51 weeks of the year so children accessing year round childcare at Partou Bluebells will receive 11.17/22.35 hours of funded childcare per week.
Government funding for childcare only applies to the care fee (as described above). Meals & snacks and consumables fees are fully chargeable for all sessions including funded.
Many families are eligible for government funded childcare, see our childcare funding guide for more information.
