Why choose Partou Woodlands Harrogate Day Nursery & Pre-School in Harrogate?

Nestled in a woodland setting on Wetherby Road, Partou Woodlands Harrogate Day Nursery & Pre-School has been providing high-quality early years childcare and education to families in Harrogate since 2000. We’re a popular choice for parents in the Woodlands and Hookstone Chase areas, and our location on the A661 makes us easy to reach for families commuting from Wetherby, Knaresborough or working at the nearby Harrogate District Hospital.

Partou Woodlands Harrogate is a smaller nursery with a real community feel, and that’s something families value from the very first visit. Because of our size, our team build genuine, lasting relationships with every child and every family. We also have a separate, self-contained pre-school which gives our oldest children their own dedicated space to focus on the early years learning and social skills they’ll need as they prepare for the move to big school, including a pre-school council where children have a voice in their nursery experience and build confidence expressing themselves.

Our woodland surroundings are a huge part of what makes this nursery special. Children have access to a large outdoor play area set within the trees, where they can explore nature, build physical confidence and let their imaginations run. Younger children have their own separate garden so they can play safely and at their own pace. We also have our very own allotment where children take part in gardening club, growing plants and learning about where food comes from. It’s hands-on early years learning that children genuinely get excited about.

Beyond the everyday curriculum, children at Partou Woodlands Harrogate benefit from a range of enrichment activities that broaden their experiences. Weekly sing and sign sessions, delivered by an external specialist, teach children sign language in a fun and engaging way which supports communication and language development for all children. Our on-site chef runs a cooking club where children get involved in preparing food, building motor skills and confidence around healthy eating. Our kitchen holds a five star food hygiene rating and children enjoy healthy, nutritious meals from a seasonal rolling three-weekly menu. We also have a community lending library which encourages a love of reading and stories both at nursery and at home.

Our team is one of our greatest strengths. Partou Woodlands Harrogate is a graduate-led setting with a highly qualified, experienced team who are committed to their own professional development as well as the children’s. Several staff members have been with the nursery for many years, with one member of our team here for over 25 years. That provides consistency and familiarity and means children are cared for by people who know them deeply and who families trust completely. We also have an on-site toothbrushing champion who works with children and parents on the importance of oral hygiene, building healthy habits and personal care skills from an early age.

Families are at the heart of everything we do at Partou Woodlands Harrogate . We pride ourselves on excellent relationships with parents and carers, keeping communication open and making sure families feel connected to their child’s early years learning and development every step of the way.

If you’re looking for a nursery in Harrogate with a beautiful woodland setting, a qualified and dedicated team and a genuine focus on community and enrichment, we’d love to welcome you to Partou Woodlands Harrogate Day Nursery & Pre-School

Meet the Partou Woodlands Harrogate Nursery Manager

Emma Tordoff
Nursery Manager

Providing quality childcare, making a genuine difference, and ensuring children have the opportunities they deserve has always been a deep passion of mine. My journey in early years began in 1994 when I qualified as a Nursery Nurse (NNEB), and my dedication to the field led me to further my studies in 2011, earning a BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies.

I am fully committed to creating the very best environments; not only for our children and their families but for our staff members as well. I believe that wellbeing is the foundation of excellence; a happy, supported, and dedicated team is the key to providing the structured, nurturing environments where children can truly thrive.

I hold high expectations for both our children and our team, and I am here to encourage every individual within our nursery community to reach their full potential.

I look forward to meeting you all and supporting your children on their learning journey.

Funded childcare

Partou Woodlands Harrogate Day Nursery & Pre-School is proud to offer funded childcare places

Funded childcare is a government incentive fulfilled by Local Authorities which aims to provide financial support for eligible families accessing childcare at an OFSTED registered setting. Partou Woodlands Harrogate Day Nursery & Pre-School work with North Yorkshire Local Authority to apply childcare funding for eligible families.

Funding typically covers 15 or 30 hours per week for the 38 term weeks of the year across a maximum of 10 hours a day which will be applied in different ways depending how many weeks of the year your child is in childcare:

  • Children who are in year-round childcare will receive “stretched” funding. This means that their 15/30 hours over 38 weeks will be stretched over 52 weeks of the year so children accessing year round childcare at Partou Woodlands Harrogate will receive 10.96/21.92 hours of funded childcare per week.
  • Children who have term-time only childcare places will receive 15/30 hours funding per week over 38 weeks of the year. Term-time only places are limited and are subject to availability.

Government funding for childcare only applies to the care fee (as described above). Meals & snacks and consumables fees are fully chargeable for all sessions including funded.

Many families are eligible for government funded childcare, see our childcare funding guide for more information.
