FAQs

How soon should I reserve my child’s nursery place?

Nursery places are highly competitive due to family’s diverse requirements and increased accessibility through the funding now available. We recommend that you reserve your child’s nursery space as soon as possible. You can find your closest Partou nursery and enquire online or call with any questions you may have.

Is there a minimum number of sessions I need to enrol my child for?

To ensure consistency for your child and help them to settle into nursery, families will need to enrol onto 2 sessions which can either be 1 full day or 2 half days. This provides consistency for your child and allows them to build a meaningful connection with their Key Worker which lays the foundation for their nursery experience.

I don’t understand how my invoice has been calculated?

Your monthly invoice should show a clear breakdown of funded hours, any additional charged hours, meals and snacks, consumables and extras. If you have any questions at all regarding how your invoice is calculated and/or how the funding is applied, please contact your Nursery Manager who will be able to explain this.

Can I split the funding over different childcare providers?

You can split your funding over two OFSTED registered sites in any one day. It is important to let each childcare provider know that you are doing this so that they can claim the correct funding from the Local Authority for the funded hours accessed at each setting.

Can I switch between term-time and stretched funding?

To ensure that we can plan for correct staff to child ratios and provide a consistent and high level of care, we encourage parents to choose either stretched OR term-time funding. If you do need to change, we politely ask that this is done for the start of a new term rather than mid-term and with a minimum of 6 weeks’ notice as per our terms and conditions.

I don’t need 30 hours a week, can I put the hours I don’t spend towards the meals and snacks and consumables charges?

As funded hours are provided by the Local Authority and are purely for care provided, we are unfortunately unable to transfer this funding to items such as meals and snacks, consumables or extras. Similarly, we are unable to refund any unused hours or transfer them to a different invoice period.

What if the funded hours don’t cover our childcare requirements for the week, what will I be charged?

Many families access childcare beyond the funded hours each week. Using a day rate example of £83, here’s how costs are calculated:

Here’s an example of how the stretched funding is calculated where the funded hours do not cover the full amount of childcare accessed within the week.

E.g. if you are entitled to 30 hours per week, stretched over 51 weeks based on an example daily rate of £83:

Number of full days attended in a week: 3
Hours attended in a week: 3 x 10 = 30
Funded hours: 30 x 38 term week = 1,140 hours
1,140 ÷ 51 weeks = 22.35 funded hours per week
Calculation: Hours to be charged each week:
Total hours attended 30 – 22.35 funded = 7.65 hours to be charged in line with daily rate.Hourly rate to apply:
£83 (e.g. daily rate) / 10 (core hours i.e. 8am-6pm) = £8.30 per hour.
7.65 hours x £8.30 = £63.50 to pay

What happens if I miss the deadline to get the working families entitlements eligibility code?

The eligibility code is needed to claim funding for the term after application. This means if you have missed the deadline, you will not be able to receive funding for hours until the next term unfortunately. If you miss the 30 funded hours deadline and your child is aged 3-4 years, you will still receive the universal 15 hours funded childcare that applies to all children aged 3-4 and will only be charged for childcare above the 15 funded hours. As soon as you have your code, please provide it to us here so we can make sure all the necessary steps are carried out. Families in receipt of Additional Government Childcare Support for 2 year olds or Universal Childcare Funding for 3-4 year olds do not need an eligibility so these deadlines do not apply.

Can I send my child in with a packed lunch instead of paying for meals and snacks?

At Partou, we carefully consider each child’s needs so that we can provide a safe and enriching childcare setting. Whilst other nurseries may accept packed lunches, this is not something we can accommodate in order to maintain safety levels across our nurseries.

Many children attending a Partou nursery have specific dietary requirements and allergies and we need to eliminate the risk of allergens in our nurseries. This is easy to do with food we source and provide however food entering our nurseries from external sources poses an allergen or cross-contamination risk. Children benefit greatly from the social aspect of nursery provided meals and snacks. We also work extensively with food experts, families, and governing bodies to ensure that the food we provide is varied and nutritious exposing children to a varied and healthy diet building the foundations for a positive relationship with food beyond their attendance at a Partou nursery.

If you would like to opt out of these charges and discuss what alternatives may be available to you, please raise this using this feedback form and a member of the Customer Service Team will be in touch.
