Ofsted highlights ‘culture of teamwork, trust and continuous improvement’ at Leeds nursery

Partou Yeadon Day Nursery & Pre-school, where “children develop strong bonds with staff and other children” and “demonstrate kindness and a caring attitude towards their friends,” has received the approval of the regulator.

Following an inspection of Partou Yeadon, the Ofsted report states: “Children enjoy their time at this welcoming nursery where children receive warm greetings from staff. Staff know children well and have fostered positive relationships with their families to provide a consistent approach to their learning and promote attendance.”

Ofsted recently changed the way early years settings are graded, replacing the previous single-word judgement with a renewed framework that focuses on safeguarding and a broad range of evaluation areas: inclusion; curriculum and teaching; achievement; behaviour, attitudes and establishing routines; children’s welfare and wellbeing; and leadership and governance.

Safeguarding standards at Partou Yeadon were deemed to be ‘met’ with the nursery achieving ‘expected standard’ in all six key evaluation areas, recognising that the team are delivering consistently high-quality childcare and education.

The inspector notes that children at the setting “are valued as individuals” and “benefit from an inclusive environment.”  The report continues: “The varied range of activities reflects their interests and abilities and is closely aligned to their next steps in learning. As a result, all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, make appropriate progress from their starting points.”

Partou Yeadon team members are praised for working closely with families “to build strong relationships, enabling them to gather detailed information about each child’s individual needs, interests and home circumstances.”  The inspector writes: “This partnership ensures that children receive consistent, personalised support that responds to both their development and daily changes in their lives.”

Government arrangements at the setting are also commended, with the report highlighting their role in providing “clear oversight, ensuring that safeguarding, wellbeing and professional development are prioritised.”  It adds: “Leaders maintain appropriate expectations for staff, fostering a culture of teamwork, trust and continuous improvement that supports children and families.”

Partou Yeadon is located in a large converted Victorian house in the heart of Nunroyd Park, surrounded by wildlife and nature. 

The nursery combines expansive indoor playrooms with exciting outdoor learning spaces including a mud garden, wooden climbing frame, vegetable patch and sensory areas.
