A parent’s guide to stress-free festive eating with children
Take a look at our helpful guide, on keeping food balanced, relaxed and enjoyable for children this Christmas, put together by Children's Food Nutritionist Laura Mathews
Located on Bath Road, between Maidenhead and Bray, Partou Silchester Manor is a high-quality provider of childcare and early years education in Taplow. Our location make us a great choice for local families commuting from the surrounding areas of Ascot, Windsor, and Berkshire Village as we are close to local transport links such as Taplow Train station and we also have a large carpark making pick-ups and drop-offs safe and convenient.
Our nursery is a celebration of the diverse cultures represented by our children, families and team members. We celebrate our different cultural events and festivals to ensure that all children feel represented and seen. Our wonderful nursery team speak a range of languages which supports children with English as an additional language to thrive with confidence, especially during their settling in period. This also enables us to support families in a wider context and welcome them into our nursery community.
Strong partnerships between our nursery and families are central to our ethos. We recognise that children thrive in their early years education when there is a consistent and collaborative approach between home and nursery, ensuring they feel secure, supported and understood in all areas of their development. We strengthen these bonds by inviting families in for nursery events such as summer fayres and festive parties. This gives families the opportunity to meet each other which really helps to build the community feel and also gives our nursery team time to communicate with families in a relaxed way. We have a monthly newsletter communicating recent events and activities as well as upcoming plans. Open communication is an important part of our ethos and we want all families to feel comfortable asking questions and discussing any concerns, so that we can work together to provide the very best support for their child.
Our well-resourced indoor area supports children’s growth and development throughout their early years education from babies to pre-school, providing the best possible care and outcomes for all children in our nursery. Our baby room is filled with sensory experiences to discover and we even have a much-loved slide in the room supporting physical development. All resources and activities are carefully curated to focus on developing physical, communication and language and social skills. As babies move up to toddlers they will enjoy further sensory play and physical development activities with dedicate resources, including a larger slide. The dressing up and home corners is a popular area in the room where the children love to carry out imaginative role play sharing their own experiences with one another. Our pre-school room focuses on preparing children for school and supporting independence through play and tailored, fun learning activities. We also have a continually adapting sensory room which all children are able to use in small groups which promotes emotional regulation as well as soft play activities which we build together to support physical development. We are also lucky to have a large kitchen space where children can enjoy cooking experiences which supports their motor skill development as well as being great for building confidence and learning more about food!
Children LOVE our large garden – as do families when we hold events such as the summer fayre or nursery graduation celebrations. This is separated into two spacious areas so babies have their own space to move freely and develop their physical skills safely with supportive play equipment. Babies also enjoy their very own mud kitchen, outdoor reading area, small climbing frame and water play area. Our large toddler and pre-school garden is well-resourced with a plenty of space to run around and also a climbing frame, outdoor reading area, gardening area, mud kitchen, imaginative and explorative area, digging area and wooden play hut. Children really enjoy our planting area and families also get involved by supporting children to care for plants. We also have a large, additional playground with a variety of bikes and scooters to develop children’s confidence. This space as used for creating obstacle courses supporting physical development and also holding our own PE classes.
Our learning extends beyond the nursery environment. We are close to ponds and rivers where children can feed the ducks which is also a nice activity for families after nursery pick-up. Thames Valley Adventure Playground is nearby and our pre-school children love visiting this exciting park.

Meet our Nursery Manager
Samina Moor
Nursery Manager
Hello, my name is Samina Noor and I am the Manager here at Partou Silchester Manor.
I hold a NVQ level 3 in Childcare and Education and have had the privilege of working with children of all ages during my 20 years childcare experience. I believe that ‘Early Years’ plays a vital role in shaping young minds, for their cognitive development, their ability to think and being able to problem solve. My team at Silchester take pride not only at offering high standard of care but also in providing a rich and fun filled environment which allows children to make choices, explore, learn, and develop.
Being a mum of 2 young children I respect the feelings of our families and understand the importance of positive relationships. My team and I work closely with our families to ensure that together we can create best childhood experiences for our children.
Ofsted Report
“The safeguarding standards are met. This means that leaders and/or those responsible for governance and oversight fulfil their specific responsibilities and have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed. As a result, children are made safer and feel safe.”
“Children with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) and those who speak English as an additional language make clear progress in their learning. Children with SEND receive targeted support, which has a positive impact on building their communication and social skills. Overall, children develop the key skills they need in readiness for school. Older children are confident communicators and use a wide range of language as they role play with their peers. Young children develop their coordination skills in the garden as they climb apparatus, navigate obstacle courses and successfully pedal on tricycles. They delight in the warm praise, build their resilience and keep trying.”
“Staff establish warm and caring relationships with children. They provide children with praise and encouragement, which supports their self-confidence. Children visibly relish the company of staff, who act as positive role models as they play alongside them during planned and independent activities. Older children form positive friendships.”
“Staff use the daily routines as opportunities to help children to develop important self-care skills in readiness for school.”
“Leaders provide a sensitive settling-in process that is tailored to meet the individual needs of all children, particularly babies and those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Staff gather important information about children’s routines, health and care needs before they start to help them to settle as quickly as possible into their transition to nursery.”
“Leaders have a clear vision for their curriculum. They know what it is they want all children to achieve as they move on to the next stage in their learning throughout the nursery and in readiness for school.”
“Leaders have high expectations for all children. They are proud of their multi-cultural setting and ensure that all children gain a sense of belonging.”
“The nursery has been through a period of transition, and the new management team has clear ambitions for what it wants to achieve. There is a clear focus on benefiting outcomes for all children”
“Children show that they feel safe and secure at the nursery. They arrive happily and quickly settle into their chosen activities. All children form close bonds with the friendly and welcoming staff, who are attentive to their individual needs.”
