Highlights from the Ofsted inspection carried out at Partou Cherry Trees Day Nursery & Pre-School on 8th May 2026:

“The safeguarding standards are met. This means that leaders and/or those responsible for governance and oversight fulfil their specific responsibilities and have established an open culture in which safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and concerns are actively identified, acted upon and managed. As a result, children are made safer and feel safe.”

“Children’s health and wellbeing are given the very highest priority.”

“Procedures during mealtimes are implemented with exemplary rigour. Staff verbally share information about children’s dietary needs before meals are served to ensure a secure and consistent understanding among the team. Place cards and coloured-plate systems clearly identify children’s individual needs. These highly effective procedures help to promote children’s excellent health, safety and personal welfare.”

“Children show an impressive sense of belonging and emotional wellbeing. They confidently place their personal items onto their pegs after outdoor play, demonstrating mature independence and emotional security. Children are emotionally connected to the staff who care for them, seeking them out to join in their games. Health, independence, personal development and welfare are extremely well promoted in this setting.”

“Children become competent mathematicians. For instance, they count in sequence when playing hide and seek. They also show appreciation of volume and quantity as they measure water in different containers and describe these as ‘full’ or ’empty’. Children enjoy their play, and their curiosity and intrigue creates a catalyst for their steady progress. They acquire key skills and are well prepared for the next stage in their learning.”

“Staff know children extremely well and make effective use of their observations and assessments to target teaching where children need additional support. They update and refresh their next steps monthly to ensure that these are accurate.”

“Staff meticulously plan interesting and exciting activities that capture children’s curiosity and imagination. They invest time and energy creating a stimulating and enjoyable environment and programme of play. This successfully fosters children’s thirst to learn. Staff make subtle adaptations to games and planned tasks to enable everyone to join in, including those children with special educational needs and/or disabilities.”

Parents are welcomed into the setting during stay-and-play sessions, which help foster links with home. “There is a tangible atmosphere of calmness created by relaxed and friendly staff. Children and visitors are warmly welcomed, and children skip into the setting each morning, eagerly anticipating the fun that awaits them. Children’s laughter and enthusiasm are infectious. When children giggle, staff smile and the entire room is alight with happiness and enjoyment. For example, children laugh with excitement as they play hide-and-seek outdoors, and the joyful sounds of their play can be heard throughout the garden. This is a fun place to be, and, in turn, children are settled and content.”

“Children trust staff and share lovely relationships with the adults who care for them. For instance, children run across the room onto staff who wait with open arms. They are reassured by these warm and affectionate cuddles, which contribute to children’s emotional self-esteem and sense of belonging. Children who attend this setting thrive because they are stimulated, happy and inquisitive. All of these qualities are continually nurtured by attentive staff who care deeply about the children in their care.”

What’s included in our fees? 

Our full fees are clearly broken down into care, meals & snacks and consumables fees for full transparency. 

Care fees include: trained, qualified team members taking care of your child, regular updates about your child and their progress at nursery, a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities tailored to the needs of your child, and use of the nursery building facilities. 

Meals & snacks fees cover the cost of all food and drinks whilst your child is in our care. Meal and snack times are a very important part of Partou nursery life, learn more about how we make food and nutrition enjoyable and educational for children in our care.

Consumables include; important daily care items needed such as nappies, wet wipes and sun cream.

Only one discount can be applied at any time:

• 5% discount for eldest child for siblings.
• 5% discount for Blue Light Card holders.

Partou Butterflies Day Nursery & Pre-School is proud to offer funded childcare places 

Funded childcare is a government incentive fulfilled by Local Authorities which aims to provide financial support for eligible families accessing childcare at an OFSTED registered setting. Partou Butterflies Day Nursery & Pre-School work with Wirral Local Authority to apply childcare funding for eligible families.

Funding typically covers 15 or 30 hours per week for the 38 term weeks of the year across a maximum of 10 hours a day which will be applied in different ways depending how many weeks of the year your child is in childcare: 

• Children who are in year-round childcare will receive “stretched” funding. This means that their 15/30 hours over 38 weeks will be stretched over 51 weeks of the year so children accessing year-round childcare at Partou Butterflies will receive 11.17/22.35 hours of funded childcare per week. 

• Children who have term-time only childcare places will receive 15/30 hours funding per week over 38 weeks of the year. Term-time only places are limited and are subject to availability.

Government funding for childcare only applies to the care fee (as described above). Meals & snacks and consumables fees are fully chargeable for all sessions including funded.
